Carol Coole qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1976 and has worked in a variety of clinical areas. From 1995 she was based at the Spinal Disorders Unit at Queens Medical Centre, which led to an interest in ergonomics/human factors. She gained an MSc in Human Factors in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Nottingham in 1999. Following this she returned to clinical work, helping to develop a new multidisciplinary rehabilitation service for people with persisting back problems until 2008 when she was awarded a three year Primary Care Fellowship by Arthritis Research UK and registered for a part-time PhD with the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing, awarded in December 2012. Carol is currently a senior research fellow in the School of Health Sciences.
