Doug Hartley is Professor of Otology at The University of Nottingham and ENT Consultant Surgeon at NUH NHS Trust, Research Lead (Objective measures)
He leads the Objective measures theme of the BRC Hearing theme in collaboration with the Nottingham Auditory Implant Programme and the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre.
Doug’s clinical expertise is in ENT conditions in adults and children, particularly hearing and balance disorders, chronic ear disease and cholesteatoma. He is a specialist in ear surgery, including mastoidectomy, bone-anchored hearing aids and cochlear implants. His research uses neuroimaging (functional near-infrared spectroscopy and fMRI) to study the effects of hearing loss and cochlear implantation on the developing and adult brain.
