Professor Will Irving - Nottingham BRC

Professor Will Irving currently chairs the national Viral Hepatitis Strategy Group, having previously chaired the Department of Health Expert Advisory Group on Hepatitis and is also a member of the UK Government Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO).

His research interest is in the natural history of hepatitis C virus infection. He co-chairs HCV Research UK, a multi-centre consortium creating a national cohort, clinical database and biobank of 12,000 patients infected with HCV initially set-up with a £2 million grant from the Medical Research Foundation, is a Steering Committee member of the MRC Stratified Medicine consortium STOP-HCV (£5.2 million funding), and is co-lead of the Department of Health Policy Research Programme Hepatitis C Awareness Through to Treatment (HepCATT, £1.1 million).
