The evaluation of elastin dynamics to understand disorders of lung repair and development

Working with University of Nottingham spinout eptiMatrix to understand how a protein that is important for stretch during breathing controls lung cells. We hope this will lead to better treatment for people with diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Idiopathic Pulmonary Disease by better understanding how these proteins can be used to promote lung health.

The collaboration uses new 3D hydrogels developed by PeptiMatrix for in vitro modelling. The company was founded by biotechnology researchers from the University of Nottingham, and is based at the Biodiscovery Institute at the university.
